Warm air typically pools or “stratifies” at the ceiling level of buildings during winter.

As the above illustration shows, HVLS fans address this problem by drawing cold air up from the floor to the ceiling, displacing the pooled warm air and forcing it to circulate down to the floor level. The result is a uniform temperature throughout the entire space.

Comfortable environment

And since HVLS fan blades turn at low speeds, they move air so slowly that you never feel an uncomfortable breeze or draft. This is important because faster-moving air creates a chill factor that could make a space feel cooler than intended, even when the temperature is actually at a desirable level.

Energy savings

Destratification fans present the greatest potential for energy savings in facilities with significant stratification temperature differences, such as warehouses. The higher the ceiling, the more opportunity for savings in heating load.
